Puerto Rico officially announced to host Miss World 2021 in December


For the first time in history, the Miss World pageant goes to Latin America with Puerto Rico being confirmed as the official host of the competition later this year.

The official announcement, joined by the local organizers and former Miss World Stephanie del Valle, was streamed live via Miss World's social media page on Wednesday, March 10.

Following its cancellation last year due to COVID-19, the 70th Miss World pageant is now scheduled to be held on December 16 at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan.

The organizers considered hosting the prestigious event a great opportunity to promote the Caribbean island as a tourist destination after the economic setback brought by the pandemic especially to its tourism industry.

Over 100 beauties with a purpose from around the world will arrive in Puerto Rico by November and they will surely be in for an exciting treat. The final promises a great show in a 3-hour spectacular telecast that is expected to attract an audience of two billion people worldwide.

After weeks of pre-pageant activities and events, the 24th edition of the annual Miss Earth pageant will culminate tonight at Okada Manila in the Philippines. Drita Ziri from Albania and her elemental court are set to crown their successors among 76 contestants from around the planet at tonight's final competition. Australia's Jessica Lane crowned Miss Earth 2024

Jessica Lane from Australia was crowned Miss Earth 2024 in a grand coronation show on Saturday, November 9 at Okada Manila in the Philippines. The 21-year-old activist and journalist beat over 70 other contestants to win the international pageant. She made history as the first Australian woman to become Miss Earth. Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir of Iceland, Bea Millan-Windorski of the USA, and Niva Antezana of Peru were crowned Miss Earth Air, Miss Earth Water, and Miss Earth Fire 2024, respectively. South Africa's Mia le Roux withdraws from Miss Universe 2024

The Miss South Africa Organization has just announced that the reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux has withdrawn from Miss Universe 2024. In an official statement, the organization wrote, "It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns." According to Mia, "Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me." "I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength," she added.
