No Nigeria at the 69th Miss Universe pageant


For the first time in over 20 years, Nigeria will not be represented at the Miss Universe pageant due to "the situation arises from last year’s unfortunate suspension of what would have been the 33rd edition of MBGN in 2020."

The Silverbird Group, organizers of the annual Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), and national franchise holder for Miss World and Miss Universe, broke the news on its official social media page.

Prior to the announcement, the organizers officially opened registration for the MBGN 2021 competition, whose grand final is scheduled for September.

Nigeria has yet to win the Miss Universe pageant. Its highest placement was Top 10 in 2001 courtesy of Agbani Darego, who was crowned Miss World that same year.

The spectacular Miss Universe 2024 preliminary competition and national costume show was held last night at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Hosted by reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios and Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, the important event kicked off with the contestants parading in their colorful and stunning national costumes. After weeks of pre-pageant activities and events, the 24th edition of the annual Miss Earth pageant will culminate tonight at Okada Manila in the Philippines. Drita Ziri from Albania and her elemental court are set to crown their successors among 76 contestants from around the planet at tonight's final competition. South Africa's Mia le Roux withdraws from Miss Universe 2024

The Miss South Africa Organization has just announced that the reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux has withdrawn from Miss Universe 2024. In an official statement, the organization wrote, "It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns." According to Mia, "Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me." "I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength," she added. The Miss South Africa Organization also expressed their full support of Mia's decision to leave the competition. Australia's Jessica Lane crowned Miss Earth 2024

Jessica Lane from Australia was crowned Miss Earth 2024 in a grand coronation show on Saturday, November 9 at Okada Manila in the Philippines. The 21-year-old activist and journalist beat over 70 other contestants to win the international pageant. She made history as the first Australian woman to become Miss Earth. Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir of Iceland, Bea Millan-Windorski of the USA, and Niva Antezana of Peru were crowned Miss Earth Air, Miss Earth Water, and Miss Earth Fire 2024, respectively.
