Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022 is Nong Thuy Hang, second runner-up Thach Thu Thao to compete in Miss Earth 2022
Nong Thuy Hang was crowned Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022 in a glittering event held on Saturday, July 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 23-year-old beauty from the Tay ethnic group in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang is a graduate of the National Economics University.
Luong Thi Hoa Dan, a 21-year-old student from the Kinh ethnic group in the northern province of Hai Duong, was named first runner-up.
A 21-year-old student from the Khmer ethnic group in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh, Thach Thu Thao, finished as second runner-up and was chosen to compete in Miss Earth 2022, possibly in the Philippines later this year.
Reigning Miss Earth Destiny Wagner from Belize, former Miss Earth Lindsey Coffey from the USA, and Miss Universe 2018 Top 5 finalist from Vietnam H’Hen Nie were the special guests and were part of the judging panel.
National pageant director Truong Ngoc Anh said that from the very beginning "the opportunity to compete in Miss Earth has been divided equally among the Top 3" and the decision to pick the second runner-up for this year's international competition was carefully made with Lorraine Schuck, the executive vice president of the Miss Earth pageant.
Vietnam first hosted the Miss Earth pageant in 2010 and is expected to host again in 2023. The country first win the coveted title in 2018 with Nguyen Phuong Khanh.
