Miss Universe Iceland 2022 is Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir
Miss East Reykjavík, Hrafnhildur Haraldsdottir bested 15 other finalists to be crowned Miss Universe Iceland 2022 on Wednesday, August 24 at Gamla Bíó in downtown Reykjavik.
The 18-year-old student at the Commercial College of Iceland (Verzlunarskóli Íslands), who has her goal set on studying medicine after graduation and becoming a doctor, succeeds last year's winner Elísa Gróa Steinþórsdóttir.
Miss Northern Lights, Isabella Þorvaldsdóttir, placed second while the representatives of Northern Iceland, Alexandra Andreyeva Tomasdottir; Grafarholt, Þorbjörg Kristinsdottir; and Gullfoss, Elva Björk Jónsdóttir, were in third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Completing the Top 10 were Miss Midnight Sun, Karen Ósk Kjartansdóttir, Miss Akranes, Erika Bjarkadóttir, Miss Diamond Beach, Sylwia Sienkiewicz, Miss Western Iceland, Sunna Dögg Jónsdóttir, and Miss Njardvik, Maríanna Líf Swain.
The new Miss Universe Iceland was born and raised in Reykjavik but has family in the Westfjords and has always loved the outdoors and the Icelandic countryside. She loves to travel abroad and especially to see and experience new, exotic and exciting places. Her hobbies include figure skating, skiing, snowboarding, and traveling.
Hrafnhildur will represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. The final date and venue for Miss Universe 2022 are yet to be announced.
Iceland has yet to win the Miss Universe title since its debut in 1956. Its highest placement was first runner-up in 1962 with Anna Geirsdóttir. Over five decades later, Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir, the first biracial woman to win Miss Universe Iceland, finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2019.
