Miss Universe pageant is on the market for $20 million
A New York Post article "Superagent Ari Emanuel struggles to dump Miss Universe pageant for $20M" is currently a hot topic in the world of pageantry.
The world's most prestigious beauty pageant with a 70-year long history is now allegedly losing millions annually and the parent organization Endeavor is struggling to sell the business for the last six months.
According to the trending article, sources said its CEO "has been trying to woo foreign investors based in Asia and South America." Endeavor declined to comment.
Miss Universe was first held in Long Beach, California in 1952 and was first televised in 1955. Donald Trump bought the pageant in 1996 from ITT Corp, and in 1998, Miss Universe, Inc. changed its name to the Miss Universe Organization and moved its headquarters from Los Angeles to New York City. In 2015, the former US President sold it to its current owner for an undisclosed amount.
What the future holds for Miss Universe, ownership and all, only time really knows for sure. A global stage with a powerful platform should stay, celebrating women and impacting lives in the ever-changing times. So Miss Universe, like in an ABBA song "you rise, shake your head, get up and ask for more, clear-headed and open-eyed."
On a positive note, the 71st Miss Universe pageant is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2023 and an official announcement on the final date and venue is coming soon.
