Miss Earth Cabo Verde 2022 is Tayrine da Veiga


Cape Verde will be represented for the time at the Miss Earth pageant with the newly appointed Miss Earth Cabo Verde 2022 Tayrine da Veiga.

The 24-year-old public relations law student was named first runner-up during the Miss Cabo Verde International pageant held on September 3 in Praia. Apart from her studies, she is also a professional model and travel agency coordinator.

"It is a lot of responsibility to carry 10 islands on the coast, each with its own particularities. I count on each of you to continue together in this new phase of my life," she wrote in a statement on social media.

"Anxious and enthusiastic I prepare to make my people proud of me. I promise to take all the best we have, to make Cape Verde increasingly known for our culture and Morabeza," she added.

Tayrine, who also wants her country to be more internationally known for being an important breeding site for sea turtles, will travel to the Philippines for the Miss Earth 2022 pageant this November.

Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant — the nation's leading provider of scholarships for young women. The 51 state representatives have already been crowned and they will compete for the national title on January 14 at the Walt Disney Theater (Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts) in Orlando, Florida.
