71st Miss Universe: Personalized capes instead of national gifts for auction


The upcoming 71st Miss Universe edition in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA will not be holding a national gift auction and the contestants were informed not to bring a national gift.

Instead, they need to customize their own cape for the swimsuit competition taking inspiration from anything that could be related to their cause or the country that they represent.

The capes will be auctioned instead of national gifts and proceeds will benefit a charity that has yet to be announced.

Contestants will each receive a blank cape from the Miss Universe Organization and they are instructed to bring the "custom art cape" and a copy of the "clearance agreement" to the Miss Universe host country.

The 71st Miss Universe competition will be held on January 14 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.

The inaugural edition of the Reina Filipinas beauty pageant was held on Friday, August 7 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. Palawan's Angelica Lopez, former Miss International Philippines, was crowned Reina Filipinas Grand International 2026 and will represent the Philippines at Miss Miss Grand International 2026 pageant this October. Spain wins second Mister Supranational title

Pedro Cordero, a 23-year-old model from Cártama (Málaga), was announced the winner of Mister Supranational 2026 during the pageant's 10th edition, which took place on Saturday, August 1, in Nowy Sącz, Poland. He became the second Spanish representative to claim the international male beauty title, following Iván Álvarez Guedes, who won in 2023. Marcél Roux from South Africa secured the first runner-up position, while Daniel Jiawei Li from China, Ramón Alcántara from the Dominican Republic, and Gabriel Castañeda from Mexico took the second, third, and fourth runner-up spots, respectively. Susana Medina from Las Palmas beat 16 other contestants to win Miss Universe Spain 2026 on Saturday, July 18 in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. Philippines wins second Miss Supranational crown

The 17th Miss Supranational beauty pageant was held on Friday, July 31 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sącz, Poland. Katrina Llegado, a 28-year-old financial management graduate from the Philippines, was crowned Miss Supranational 2026 by her predecessor Eduarda Braum of Brazil. She bested over 60 other contestants to win her country's second Miss Supranational crown after Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul. Miss World Italy 2026 is Mia Zottoli Montanaro from Puglia

Mia Zottoli Montanaro was proclaimed the winner of Miss Mondo Italia 2026 (Miss World Italy) last Sunday, June 14 at the Ecoresort Le Sirenè in Gallipoli. The 21-year-old model and former volleyball player of Argentine descent from Taranto, Puglia was crowned by her predecessor Sofia Viola. Luren Márquez was crowned Miss Peru 2026 (Miss Universe Peru) in a special ceremony held on Wednesday, April 15 at the Teatro Municipal del Callao. The 27-year-old television presenter and model received the crown from her predecessor Karla Bacigalupo with the presence of the reigning Miss Universe Fátima Bosch from Mexico. Miss Iran 2022 Mahrou Ahmadi to compete in Miss Earth 2022

Miss Iran 2022 Mahrou Ahmadi has been officially announced to represent her country at the Miss Earth 2022 pageant in the Philippines this November. The 24-year-old beauty will be the second Iranian representative at Miss Earth and the first one to participate in a live competition.
