Miss World Kenya 2022 is Chantou Kwamboka


Chantou Kwamboka was crowned Miss World Kenya 2022 in a glittering gala held on Saturday, December 10 at the Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi.

The 24-year-old model, catwalk coach and actor succeeded last year's titleholder Sharon Obara and will now prepare to represent Kenya at the 71st Miss World pageant.

"Last night was one for the books. I still haven't soaked it in all yet. I'm happy, blessed, grateful, and highly favored. I smile, cry, and laugh all at the same time. This is truly a dream come true. I am completely grateful for how this journey has unfolded," she shared on social media.

Digital creator Wanjiku Kariuki and mental health advocate Wabaiya Kariuki were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Kenya has yet to win the Miss World crown. The east African country's highest placement was in the Top 5 in 2016 with Evelyn Njambi Thungu and in 2017 with Magline Jeruto.

Plus-sized beauty Sara Milliken was crowned the National American Miss Alabama 2024 during the state final held on May 27 at the Renaissance Marriot in Montgomery. The 23-year-old model and mental health advocate from Atmore, Alabama is now expected to represent her home state at the National American Miss 2024 competition later this year. Amadea Zupan was crowned Miss Slovenia 2024 (Miss World Slovenia) in a national competition held on Friday, January 10 in Lendava. The 26-year-old medical student at the University of Ljubljana beat 12 other contestants to win the title. She received the crown from her predecessor Alida Tomanič. Katja Zver was named first runner-up while Neja Prosenjak finished as second runner-up and also bagged the Miss Personality award. Samuel Nwajagu of Nigeria was proclaimed the grand winner of the Mister International 2024 pageant on Saturday, December 14 in Bangkok, Thailand. Angélique Angarni-Filopon from Martinique beat 29 other contestants to win Miss France 2025 on Saturday, December 14 at the Futuroscope Arena in Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The 34-year-old flight attendant became the oldest winner of the prestigious national pageant. She also made history as the first woman from Martinique to become Miss France. Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant — the nation's leading provider of scholarships for young women. The 51 state representatives have already been crowned and they will compete for the national title on January 14 at the Walt Disney Theater (Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts) in Orlando, Florida. Apart from raising the age limits to between 18 and 28, the 2024 competition under the new CEO Robin Ross-Fleming will also see other changes.
