Miss Charm 2023 is Luma Russo from Brazil
Miss Charm Brazil Luma Russo bested 37 other contestants to be crowned Miss Charm 2023 on Thursday, February 16 Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The 27-year-old pilot and model made history by becoming the first-ever woman to win the Vietnam-based international beauty pageant. She also won a cash prize worth 100,000 US dollars.
Annabelle Mae McDonnell of the Philippines and Olivia Tan of Indonesia were named the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Lady Di Mosquera of Venezuela, Juliana Habib Lorduy of Colombia, and Luyanda Zuma of South Africa rounded out the Top 6 finalists.
The rest of the Top 10 were the representatives from Argentina, Julieta Garcia, Puerto Rico, Alejandra Pagan, Costa Rica, Andrea Montero, and the Dominican Republic, Valentina Campion.
Anahi Hormazabal Garay of Chile, Li Mengli of China, Larisa Han of Korea, Shannen Jade Totten of Malaysia, Karen Bustos of Mexico, Anastasiia Panova of Ukraine, Pattita Suntivijj of Thailand, Anna Baksheeva of Russia, and Sylwia Bober of Poland completed the Top 20 semifinalists.
The new Miss Charm was born and raised in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Prior to her getting appointed Miss Charm Brazil, she represented her home state at Miss Supranational Brazil 2020 and placed second runner-up. Besides aviation, her passion includes makeup, fashion, and traveling the world.
For her answer to the Top 3 final questions: "Every morning when you wake up, what do you believe to be the meaning of your life? What are you living for?"
She said: "If I had to sum it up in one word — freedom. Freedom to be able to travel where you want, be who you want, and do what you want. Be the woman you are meant to be, follow your dreams, and be able to achieve the knowledge not only academically but the knowledge of culture, of emotional intelligence, to be able to reach your full potential."
Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova, Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna, Miss International 2012 Ikumi Yoshimatsu, Vietnamese billionaire Mimi Morris, and Singaporean influencer Irene Zhao were among the esteemed panel of judges.
The first two editions of Miss Charm were held in 1989 and 1990 as Miss Charm International in Moscow, Russia (formerly the Soviet Union). This year's competition was the inaugural event under the Vietnamese organization.
