Miss Universe Indonesia under Poppy Capella officially launched

Two weeks after the announcement that shocked the pageant community, the new Miss Universe Indonesia organization under the leadership of Indonesian singer and entrepreneur Poppy Capella has been officially launched.

A star-studded press conference followed by a glittering red carpet gala dinner took place on Tuesday, February 21 at the Mulia resort, on the beautiful Nusa Dua in Bali.

Among the special guests were reigning Miss Universe from the USA R'Bonney Gabriel, second runner-up Andreína Martínez Founier of the Dominican Republic, and Top 5 finalist Gabriëla Dos Santos of Curacao.

The owner of the Miss Universe Organization Anne Jakrajutatip and her team were also present and made another surprising revelation about her company's preference for standalone national pageants being held exclusively for her prestigious brand.

"We (MUO) prefer to have just one stage for one beauty pageant brand. No other brands must involve. I respect your work in the past 20-30 years, I admire what you have done but this is the principle of the company, of the organization," said Anne.

The stunning Thai business mogul who just celebrated her birthday during a recent Malaysian tour also received a "belated happy birthday" cake and a heartwarming message from the Indonesian team.

With the newly formed Miss Universe Indonesia came a promise to bring substantial changes to the world of Indonesian pageantry.

"This is the beginning of the change, a change that will lead Indonesian women to a world-class beauty competition," said the new organization following its successful grand launching that "marked another milestone in Miss Universe history."

Besides the glitz and glamour, the value of caring and sharing is also at its core. The team started off carrying out charity activities in collaboration with several humanitarian organizations to provide full scholarships to young women pursuing their bachelor's degrees.

The 71st Miss Universe said in her speech: "As we move forward with the Miss Universe Organization and Miss [Universe] Indonesia, may we always commit to investing in the women and the lives around us. I can speak on behalf of everybody that we will take responsibility as we move forward to always be a force for good."

Miss Universe Curacao also shared: "I am excited to see the change that we're implementing and bringing to the new organization because it's necessary. I know that sometimes change is extremely scary and people are not always open to seeing change but sometimes it's necessary to see a true change in our society and that's what we're looking for."
