Fátima Cuéllar confirmed vying for Miss Universe El Salvador 2023

Former Miss World contestant Fátima Cuéllar aims for Miss Universe, joins Miss El Salvador 2023

Miss World El Salvador 2017 Fátima Cuéllar has been confirmed to participate in the Miss El Salvador 2023 (Miss Universe El Salvador 2023) national pageant.

The 25-year-old professional model and influencer from San Salvador represented her country at Miss World 2017 in Sanya, China where out of over 100 competitors she finished in the Top 15 — a historic first placement for El Salvador.

Applications for Miss El Salvador 2023 were officially opened last month but details for the final competition have yet to be announced. The winner will compete in Miss Universe 2023 to be hosted in the country later this year.

The reigning Miss Universe El Salvador, Alejandra Guajardo, took part in the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans last January. Unfortunately, she did not make it to the Top 16.

El Salvador, which was announced as the host country of the 72nd Miss Universe edition earlier this year, has not placed at the prestigious pageant since 1996. Its highest achievement was first runner-up in 1955 with the late Maribel Arrieta.
