Diane Leyre to represent France at Miss Universe 2023
Former Miss France Diane Leyre officially announced on Monday, July 10 that she will represent her country at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023).
The 26-year-old model and radio personality from Paris posted a video announcement on social media. She said, "Proud to announce that I will represent France at the next Miss Universe competition."
"A year after returning my crown, I never gave up my dream to go back on stage to represent our country internationally," she continued.
"Next December, we will make our country's colors shine loud and clear," she added and went on to thank her supporters.
Diane holds a degree in business administration from IE University in Madrid. In December 2021, she was crowned Miss France 2022 from a field of 29 competitors while representing Île-de-France at the Zénith de Caen in Caen, Normandy.
Her predecessor was Normandy's Amandine Petit who participated in Miss Universe 2020 in Hollywood, Florida, and placed in the Top 21.
During her reign, she became a cohost on the Europe 2 daily morning show "Le Morning sans filtre" with Guillaume Genton and Fabien Delettres.
Due to her schedule and lack of time to prepare for the international pageant, her first runner-up, Floriane Bascou from Martinique, was nominated instead to compete in Miss Universe 2022 in New Orleans last January.
This year's Miss Universe pageant will be held in El Salvador on a date yet to be announced.
