Miss Universe Brazil 2023 'Iêda' crown officially unveiled


Miss Universe Brazil 2023 has officially kicked off with the preliminary swimsuit competition of the 27 contestants held on Wednesday, June 5 in São Paulo.

A new crown "Iêda" was also unveiled at Vasto Restaurant in honor of the victory and legacy of Brazil's first Miss Universe Iêda Maria Vargas who won the coveted international title 60 years ago.

Now age 78, the former beauty queen turned actress hailing from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul was proclaimed Miss Universe 1963 among 50 competitors in Miami Beach, Florida. She succeeded Norma Nolan of Argentina.

An exquisite masterpiece of renowned jeweler Miguel Alcade, the new crown will be passed on to the new queen during the grand final and coronation of this year's Miss Universe Brazil this Saturday at Pátio Welucci.

The recipient of the national crown will represent the country at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador later this year.
