Miss Universe Bahrain 2023 is Lujane Yacoub
Lujane Yacoub was crowned Miss Universe Bahrain 2023 in a national competition held at Mirihi Island Resort in Maldives and streamed live on Saturday, September 2 through the official Miss Universe YouTube channel.
The 19-year-old Bahraini-American actress, dancer, and model who grew up in the UAE already joined last year's competition and placed first runner-up. She now succeeds Evlin Khalifa and will represent Bahrain at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant in El Salvador this November.
Advaita Shetty won the Kevin Murphy Social Media Challenge and was named first runner-up while Tuhina Carrol was announced as the second runner-up.
Aside from winning the coveted national title, the new Miss Universe Bahrain also bagged the Ladycode Ambassador and Miss Great Lengths awards.
According to her bio, Lujane wants to use her platform as a titleholder to empower children through arts and expression. She is currently an active volunteer in several local organizations in Bahrain teaching children what she loves most — arts.
With her participation in pageantry, she hopes to help address and dispel many misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding women in the Middle East.
"For me personally, being a woman in Bahrain, I find it important to showcase the fact that Arab women aren't oppressed and have the capability to hold their own within the culture."
