Ukraine's Angelina Usanova crowned Miss Eco International 2024
Angelina Usanova from Ukraine was crowned Miss Eco International 2024 on Sunday, April 28 at the Triumph Luxury Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter bested over 40 other contestants to win the international title. She succeeds last year's winner from Vietnam, Nguyen Thanh Ha.
Chantal Schmidt of the Philippines was announced first runner-up while Nikita Dani of Canada, Fabiane Alcarde Goia of Brazil, and Valerie Avril of Indonesia were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively.
This year's event marked the 9th edition of the Miss Eco International pageant. It was also the first time for Ukraine to win the competition.
The new Miss Eco International is no stranger to pageantry. Last year, she was named Miss Universe Ukraine then went to El Salvador for Miss Universe 2023 and became a silver finalist for the "Voice For Change" challenge.
For the final question "From your point of view, what is the key quality that a world leader should possess?" Angelina replied: I think that there are so many qualities that a leader should possess - he or she should be wise, he or she should be a good listener, he or she should be a guide towards a better future, for the group, a nation, humanity."
She continued: "But, for me, the two biggest qualities that a world leader should possess are virtue and the ability to empower and inspire people. I think that virtue is accumulated by your good thoughts, your good deeds, because a leader is an example, he is the one who leads, and who has a group behind him."
"The true leader is not interested in slaves, he is interested in empowerment, in bringing the power and inner light to each of the group, each person, of a nation, so he is the one who is responsible for a safe environment and guidance into a better future."
The Top 10 finalists were from the USA (Sabrina Ramos), Aruba (Jaimerlee de Meza), Malaysia (Jessica Gomez), Mexico (María Lucía Ortega Ruiz), and Venezuela (Valeria Andrea Medina Figueroa).
Completing the Top 21 were from Australia (Riley Aston-Kampioti), Belgium (Luna De Vlam), China (Li Xiangqi), Colombia (Stephany Silva Castrillón), Ecuador (Maria Denisse Jaramillo), Japan (Maria Ishida), Netherlands (Kimary da Silva Carvalho), Nigeria (Vivian Onuigbo), Paraguay (Fabiola Martínez), Spain (Karla López Villar), and Thailand (Kodchakorn Korntrakoon).
