Miss Universe Bahamas 2024 is Selvinique Wright
Miss Andros, Selvinique Wright was crowned Miss Universe Bahamas 2024 on Sunday, May 12 at Atlantis Showroom in Paradise Island.
The 31-year-old founder of the "Women's Health.. Us First" foundation will now prepare to represent the Bahamas at the 73rd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2024) in Mexico this November.
Her foundation, which focuses on fibroids awareness, aims to promote education, foster research, build a supportive community, and advocate for better health.
No stranger to pageantry, Selvinique is a former Miss Grand Bahamas who participated in Miss Grand International 2016 in Las Vegas where she placed in the Top 10 and bagged the Best in Swimsuit award.
This year's Miss Universe Bahamas pageant which was themed "Destination Bahamas" featured 10 worthy contestants vying for the national title.
Marechan Burrows of Paradise Island was named first runner-up while Daniella Dorsette of Acklins, Chelsea Cooper of Abaco, and Alexandria Pinder of New Providence were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively.
The Bahamas has yet to win the Miss Universe crown since its debut in 1963. Its highest placement was Top 10 in Miss Universe 2021 with Chantel O'Brian.
