Albertina Haimbala to represent Namibia at Miss Earth 2024

The Miss Namibia Organization (MNO) has officially announced Albertina Haimbala as Namibia's representative for Miss Earth 2024 later this year.

Albertina, a 24-year-old marketing management graduate, was the first runner-up at Miss Namibia 2023. She was previously designated to participate in the 72nd Miss World.

According to the MNO, the Miss World organization now strictly enforces its standing rule that only the national winner can participate in the Miss World competition.

The rule also stipulates that the first runner-up can only participate when the national winner is unable to and/or incapacitated.

CEO Umbi Karuaihe-Upi said: "There are rules and requirements that we have no control over, including the postponement of international beauty pageants. Hence, as license franchise holders, we must abide by them."

The winners of the annual Miss Namibia pageant are usually sent to Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth. Last year's second runner-up Martha Kautanevali went to Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam.
