Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2024: Meet the winners of the preliminary competition


The preliminary competition of the highly anticipated Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2024 pageant took place on Sunday, June 23 in San Juan.

Hosted by Nicole Chacón, the show featured 28 contestants strutting the runway in their cocktail dresses by Corte Frances, swimsuits designed by Lorel Aurora (Mare Cheia), and glittering evening gowns.

One of them will walk away with the crown at the culmination of the upcoming final competition this Thursday, June 27 at Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré.

While we eagerly await the successor of Karla Guilfú Acevedo, who will represent Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico this November, here are the winners of the preliminary competition:

Miss Alabama USA 2024 is Diane Westhoven

Miss Southern Plains, Diane Westhoven was crowned Miss Alabama USA 2024 during the state final on Saturday, June 1 at Auburn University's Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center. The 21-year-old student from Birmingham will now prepare to represent Alabama at Miss USA 2024 this summer in Hollywood, California. She succeeds Sophie Burzynski, last year's winner and Miss USA 2023 Top 20 semifinalist. Diane is currently studying psychology at Auburn University with the goal of empowering others to feel confident in their physical and emotional well-being. Plus-sized Sara Milliken crowned Miss Alabama for National American Miss 2024

Plus-sized beauty Sara Milliken was crowned the National American Miss Alabama 2024 during the state final held on May 27 at the Renaissance Marriot in Montgomery. The 23-year-old model and mental health advocate from Atmore, Alabama is now expected to represent her home state at the National American Miss 2024 competition later this year. "This is a dream that has been 8 years in the making for me," said the new National American Miss Alabama who first joined the state pageant when she was 15 years old. After enduring bullying upon her return at the age of 16, she decided to take a break from joining for 7 years. However, this year, she mustered up the courage to give the crown another shot. Miss Maryland USA 2024 is Bailey Anne Kennedy

Asian-American Bailey Anne Kennedy was crowned Miss Maryland USA 2024 on Saturday, June 1 at Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The 31-year-old military wife, an NCAA D1 Dance Team Captain, and a former NFL Cheerleader Trainee from Montgomery County bested over 90 other contestants to win the state title. She became the oldest and the first transgender and married woman to be crowned Miss Maryland USA since the Miss Universe Organization recently changed its rules regarding age limits and marital status. Bailey advocates for "Beauty Without an Expiration Date" to encourage everyone to embrace opportunities regardless of age restrictions and believe in one's own self-worth despite any perceived limitations in life. The Mexican-American mentor, model, and restaurant franchisee from Fullerton will now prepare to represent California at the Miss USA 2024 pageant in Hollywood, California this August. Himanvi Panidepu was crowned Miss Virginia USA 2024 during the state final competition on Sunday, June 23 at Hilton Arlington National Landing in Arlington, Virginia. The 24-year-old Indian-American cybersecurity consultant and STEM advocate from Centreville will represent Virginia at the Miss USA 2024 pageant in Hollywood, California this August. She succeeds Ashley Williams, last year's winner and Miss USA 2024 Top 20 semifinalist. The 24-year-old Indian-American, representing Hoboken, succeeds last year's winner and Miss USA 2023 Top 20 semifinalist Derby Chukwudi. Jabili will now prepare to represent the "Garden State" in the upcoming Miss USA 2024 pageant in Hollywood, California this August. The new Miss New Jersey USA holds a degree in journalism from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2024 is Anna-Lise Nanton

Miss Pax Vale, Anna-Lise Nanton was crowned Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2024 on Sunday, June 23 at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) - Lord Kitchener Auditorium in Port of Spain. The 26-year-old geotechnical engineer and athlete from Santa Cruz is now expected to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the 72nd Miss World festival.
