Miss Universe 2024 standouts in the preliminary competition


The spectacular Miss Universe 2024 preliminary competition and national costume show was held last night at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City.

Hosted by reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios and Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, the important event kicked off with the contestants parading in their colorful and stunning national costumes.

After the national costume segment, each contestant walked on stage in their swimsuits and capes, and then by group during the evening gown.

An esteemed panel of selection committee carefully assessed each of their performances. Scores from last night's event including their closed-door interviews, will help determine the semifinalists.

Standouts were from Aruba, Botswana, Brazil, Cambodia, Cuba, Curacao, DR Congo, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Iceland, Italy, Martinique, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Thailand, US Virgin Islands, USA, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

Albania, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Belarus, Bolivia, China, Colombia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Guinea, India, Jamaica, Korea, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, New Zealand, Norway, Persia, Philippines, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Samoa, Slovakia, Somalia, Spain, and Turks and Caicos Islands also performed well.

Several awards were also announced following the preliminaries. Jenelle Thongs of Trinidad and Tobago was awarded Miss Congeniality while Stephanie Cam of Honduras received the Best Skin award.

For the first time, special awards were also handed out to the national directors. Best National Director went to Canada, while Vietnam and the Philippines received the Best National Pageant and Best National Host Tour Country, respectively.

The Top 10 winners of the Voice for Change competition were also revealed. Gold winners were from Bolivia, Cambodia, and Guatemala while Aruba, Bahrain, Cayman Islands, Eritrea, Finland, Guinea, and Thailand were named the silver finalists.

Here's where to watch Miss Earth 2024 final show livestream

After weeks of pre-pageant activities and events, the 24th edition of the annual Miss Earth pageant will culminate tonight at Okada Manila in the Philippines. Drita Ziri from Albania and her elemental court are set to crown their successors among 76 contestants from around the planet at tonight's final competition. The show will be hosted by Filipino actor and host Robi Domingo and will stream live on local channels and Miss Earth's official social media and streaming platforms. South Africa's Mia le Roux withdraws from Miss Universe 2024

The Miss South Africa Organization has just announced that the reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux has withdrawn from Miss Universe 2024. In an official statement, the organization wrote, "It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns." According to Mia, "Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me." "I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength," she added. The Miss South Africa Organization also expressed their full support of Mia's decision to leave the competition. Australia's Jessica Lane crowned Miss Earth 2024

Jessica Lane from Australia was crowned Miss Earth 2024 in a grand coronation show on Saturday, November 9 at Okada Manila in the Philippines. The 21-year-old activist and journalist beat over 70 other contestants to win the international pageant. She made history as the first Australian woman to become Miss Earth. Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir of Iceland, Bea Millan-Windorski of the USA, and Niva Antezana of Peru were crowned Miss Earth Air, Miss Earth Water, and Miss Earth Fire 2024, respectively.
