Česká Miss and Miss Universe Slovenskej Republiky have crowned new beauty queens in a live broadcast on Sunday, August 24 from the Karlín Music Theater in Prague. Twelve women battled out to win the coveted crowns at stake in a joint national competition.
The winners, Česká Miss 2019 Barbora Hodacová, 23, from Teplice and Miss Universe Slovak Republic 2019 Laura Longauerová, 23, from Detva, will represent the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic respectively at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant. They both received a crown worth over CZK400,000.
A 20-year-old model, Klára Vavrušková, from Kostelec nad Orlicí was voted by the judges and the television viewerss to be proclaimed as Česko-Slovenská Miss 2019. Her crowning was the highlight of the evening as she received a 100,000 euros contract, an apartment in Prague and a crown worth over 2.5 million Czech crowns. She will represent the Czech Republic at the Miss Earth 2019 pageant in the Philippines this coming October.
Stanislava Lučková, 26, from Košice, will also travel to the Philippines to represent the Slovak Republic in October at the Miss Earth 2019 pageant.
Karolína Kokešová, 23, from Brno, was voted by the readers of Blesk.cz to be awarded Česká Miss Internet 2019.
The Czech Republic and Slovakia were both parts of Czechoslovakia, or Czecho-Slovakia, a sovereign state in Central Europe that existed from October 1918, when it declared its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, until its peaceful dissolution into two separate countries in January 1993.
Both countries are yet to win the Miss Universe pageant.
Tereza Fajksová, Česká Miss Earth 2012, was the first-ever Czech woman to win the Miss Earth crown.
