Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz of the Philippines will appear as a special guest in Season 2 of the Netflix series Insatiable which is set to premiere on Friday, October 11.
Insatiable tells a story of a bullied teenager Patty Bladell who turned to beauty pageants as a way to exact her revenge. The black comedy-drama web television series, starring Dallas Roberts and Debby Ryan, was created by Lauren Gussis based on the 2014 New York Times article “The Pageant King of Alabama” by Jeff Chu.
Gloria plays the role of a former beauty queen and fierce mentor named Gloria Reyes in the series, who was greatly idolized by pageant coach Bob Armstrong.
The 68-year-old Filipina beauty queen and multi-awarded film and television actress won her country’s first Miss Universe crown 50 years ago. She was also the 3rd Asian to win the prestigious beauty title after Japan’s Akiko Kojima in 1959 and Thailand’s Apasra Hongsakula in 1965.
