Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai taken to hospital due to COVID-19

Miss World 1994 Aishwarya RaiIndian actress and Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was taken to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) infection.

According to reports, Aishwarya’s daughter Aaradhya, husband Abhishek and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan have also been infected with the virus.

Miss World CEO and Chairman, Julia Morley, gave a message for Aishwarya and her family, “We are all praying for Aishwarya and her family to make a full recovery. We send our love and good wishes to all the Bachchan family. Aishwarya has been responsible for so much good in this world – I am sure she will come back stronger than ever.”

Aishwarya was crowned Femina Miss India World 1994 and went on to win Miss World 1994 in Sun City, South Africa prior to becoming one of India’s most famous faces.

Since winning Miss World, Aishwarya has devoted huge amounts of her time, money, and energy in support of the sick and disadvantaged. She received the Lifetime Beauty with a Purpose Award from the Miss World Organization in 2014 for her humanitarian works.
