Tokyo representative, Kouki Sakata, was proclaimed Mr. Japan 2020 in a national competition held at the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo on Tuesday, September 29.
The 26-year-old athlete, fitness trainer, and photographer edged out 17 other finalists to win the national title.
Kouki succeeds last year’s winner, Yuma Okada and he is expected to represent Japan at the next Mister International competition.
The representatives of Nagano, Tatsuya Yamaguchi, Gifu, Teppei Kuno, Shiga, Rion Nakamichi, and Yamanashi, Ryo Nakata were in second, third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively.
Mr. Japan has been held since 2013 as a male version of Miss Japan. It is a competition to discover men who not only have appearance but also intelligence, sensibility, humanity, and self-confidence.
