20-year-old Salett Miguel, the representative of Cuanza Sul Province, was crowned Miss Angola 2019 on Saturday, October 19 in Luanda. Paula Ngaça and Nilda Songo were the first and second runners-up, respectively.
The political sciences student bested 17 other beauties to win the national competition and succeeded last year’s winner, Ana Liliana Avião. She will represent Angola at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant in the USA in December.
In a press conference, the newly-crowned Miss Angola thanked her family support and promised to work towards the fight of fatherhood denial, taking into account that it is one of the aspects that contributes to the loss of civic values and citizenship patriotism.
Miss Angola was founded in 1997 and it has produced one Miss Universe winner with Leila Lopes in 2011, becoming the first black African to win the pageant since 1999.
