Celine Van Ouytsel, 23, from Herentals, was crowned Miss Belgium 2020 during the 52nd edition of the national competition held on Saturday, January 11 in De Panne.
The law graduate beat 31 other contestants to win the pageant. She succeeds last year’s winner, Elena Castro Suarez, and is now expected to represent her country at the Miss World 2020 pageant.
Celest Decaestecker and Anicca Van Hollebeke were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Blandine Ferret and Laura Vanquaillie completed the Top 5 finalists.
The new Miss Belgium captured the hearts of fans when she picked herself up after an embarrassing fall during the competition, gracefully walked off, and went on to win the beauty title.
In an interview shortly after the pageant, Celine said, “I just had to get up again, as you so often do in life.”
