Valentina Perez Medina was officially announced by Promociones Gloria, Miss Earth franchise holder, as Miss Bolivia Tierra 2020 (Miss Earth Bolivia) on Friday, September 11 via social media.
The 22-year-old commercial engineering student from Chuquisaca succeeds last year’s titleholder, Fernanda Castedo. She will represent Bolivia at the Miss Earth 2020 virtual competition in November.
“Now I’m Miss Bolivia Earth and this gives me the opportunity to combine my passion with my mission, to be able to send the message that helping others is not difficult, you don’t need money or a degree, just the commitment and desire to make a difference,” she wrote on social media shortly after the official announcement.
Valentina was crowned Miss Bolivia Internacional 2019 at the Miss Bolivia national pageant held in June last year. She went on to represent her country at the Miss International 2019 pageant in Tokyo, Japan last November.
Bolivia is yet to win the Miss Earth crown. The country’s highest placement at the international pageant was Top 10 in 2001 with Catherine Villarroel Márquez.
