Susana Downes was crowned Miss Earth Australia 2019 on Sunday, September 8 at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. She succeeds Monique Shippen by besting 19 other contestants to win the national competition.
The 26-year-old singer, dancer, and actor, also bagged the Best in Talent, Best in Evening Gown and People’s Choice awards. She will now prepare to represent Australia at the Miss Earth 2019 pageant in the Philippines this coming October.
Sheridan Mortlock, Karyn Xie, Pauline Chapman, and Brittany Dickson were crowned Miss Air Australia 2019, Miss Water Australia 2019, Miss Fire Australia 2019 and Miss Charity Australia 2019, respectively.
Australia has never won the Miss Earth title yet. The country’s highest achievements in the pageant were in 2015 and 2017 with Dayanna Grageda and Nina Robertson’s Top 4 placements.
