A 25-year-old animal bioscientist from Sydney, Brittany Dickson (right), has been officially announced as Miss Earth Australia 2020.
The brain cancer survivor has finally won the crown after several attempts at the pageant. She was named Miss Air Australia in 2017 and took home the title Miss Charity Australia last year.
Brittany is passionate about the environment, especially wildlife conservation. Before winning her coveted title, she shared on social media, “I don’t want the crown for the glory, I want the crown to raise my voice to reach as many people as possible in the pursuit of a greener Earth.”
As Miss Earth Australia organizers postponed the 2020 competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, three elemental queens from the 2019 edition were considered for this year’s title. The other two were Karyn Xie and Sheridan Mortlock.
The ladies were invited to live judging which was hosted by former winners, Susana Danielle Downes and Monique Shippen at Stamford hotel in Circular Quay last August 15.
The newly-crowned Miss Earth Australia was chosen based on online voting through official social media platforms, blogger online interviews, and face to face with a distinguished panel of judges.
Brittany will represent the land down under at the Miss Earth 2020 virtual edition starting September with the finals slated for November.
