Nadine Pfaffeneder was crowned Miss Earth Austria 2020 in a national competition held last September 15 at Le Pic in Vienna.
The 19-year-old beauty from Upper Austria, who wants to promote recycling and waste reduction, edged out seven other finalists to win the national title. She will represent her country at the Miss Earth 2020 virtual competition in November.
Lena Kasperer, Sabrina Tengler, and Drilona Zenelaj were the elemental court winners. They were named Miss Earth Air Austria, Miss Earth Water Austria, and Miss Earth Fire Austria, respectively.
It was the first edition of the Miss Earth Austria pageant with the current national director and last year’s titleholder, Melanie Gassner.
The Miss Earth Austria crown was manually refined by Austrian artist Karl Bötel with 600 Swarovski crystals that took 40 hours to finish.
Austria was so close to winning Miss Earth twice with Katia Wagner in 2013 and Melanie Mader in 2018 who both placed in the Top 4 and took home the Miss Earth – Air title.
