Cintiana Harry, 27, from Berbice, has been appointed as Miss Earth Guyana 2020. This is confirmed by Guyana Premiere, a local brand responsible for Miss Earth Guyana pageant, in an official press release.
The organizers said, “Like most events, the coronation for Miss Earth Guyana 2020 was canceled due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19; event gathering and the high risks of social gathering are the key reasons for Guyana Premier foregoing on the event this year.”
They added, “After several months of consideration and deliberation, the Miss Earth Guyana organization has made the difficult decision to shift its 2020 applicants to its 2021 national competition.”
The press release also announced the organization’s new national director, Dr. Omesh Balmacoon, who served as its managing director since 2017.
The new Miss Earth Guyana was a runner-up and named as Miss Eco-Guyana during last year’s national pageant. She will now represent her South American country in the next edition of Miss Earth pageant, whose date and venue are yet to be announced.
“My heart is filled with excitement; I am extremely happy to be given the opportunity to continue to help make the world greener using the prestigious title of Miss Earth Guyana 2020,” Cintiana expressed through a post on social media.
Last year’s titleholder, Miss Earth Guyana 2019 Faydeha King made it to the Top 20 at Miss Earth 2019 and marked the first placement of Guyana in the international pageant since its inception in 2001.
