Saitama representative, Anna Tode, was proclaimed Miss Earth Japan 2020 in a competition held on Wednesday, September 16 in Tokyo.
The 20-year-old biology student edged out 28 other finalists to win the national beauty title. She will represent Japan at the Miss Earth 2020 virtual competition this November.
In second place who received the title of Miss Air Japan was Erina Hanawa (Tochigi), while Naho Yasukawa (Osaka) and Nagisa Tsutsumi (Iwate) were named Miss Water Japan and Miss Fire Japan, respectively.
Last year’s winner, Yuka Itoko, who placed in the Top 20 at Miss Earth 2019, crowned her successor at the end of the event.
Japan is yet to win the Miss Earth crown. The country’s highest placement at the international pageant was Top 7 with Marina Kishira in 2010.
