A 22-year-old student from Belfast, Shannon McCullagh, was crowned Miss Earth Northern Ireland 2019 on Sunday, July 28 at the Waterside Theatre in Derry.
The runners-up were Jessica Doherty, Emily Lipsett, and Caoimhe McKay. They received the titles of Miss Earth Air – Northern Ireland, Miss Earth Water – Norther Ireland, and Miss Earth Fire – Northern Ireland 2019, respectively.
Shannon edged out seven other finalists to win the right to represent Northern Ireland at the Miss Earth 2019 pageant in the Philippines next October.
This year’s pageant sponsored by Richmond Shopping Centre was hosted by former titleholder, Miss Earth Northern Ireland 2013 Amira Graham.
Last year’s winner, Christie van Schalkwyk, crowned her successor at the end of the event.
Northern Ireland is yet to win the Miss Earth crown but it has placed in the Top 16 twice, in 2009 with Kayleigh O’Reilly and 2016 with Julieann McStravick.
