Mukang’andu Hamoonga was officially proclaimed as Miss Earth Zambia 2020 on Thursday, September 3.
The 23-year-old chemical engineer from Lusaka “is more than eager to preserve and conserve this planet we call home,” says the official announcement on the national pageant’s social media.
Muka succeeds last year’s titleholder, Venus Vlahakis, and will soon represent her country at the Miss Earth 2020 virtual competition this November.
“I pledge to save and serve the earth with a heart of resilience and spirit of an eco-warrior,” she wrote on social media shortly after her proclamation.
Zambia is yet to win the Miss Earth crown. The country’s highest placement was Top 16 with Cartier Zagorski in 2014.
