Miss France organization has officially announced that Miss France 2018 Maëva Coucke will compete in Miss Universe 2019 while Miss France 2019 runner-up Ophély Mézino in Miss World 2019.
Maëva represented France at Miss World 2018 in Sanya, China where she placed in the Top 12. The 25-year-old who was also crowned Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2017 before winning Miss France will now prepare for the Miss Universe 2019 pageant whose date and venue are yet to be announced.
Ophély will travel to London, England for the Miss World 2019 pageant in December. The 20-year-old from Morne à l’Eau was crowned Miss Guadeloupe 2018 before competing in Miss France 2019.
France boasts two Miss Universe winners with Christiane Martel in 1953 and Iris Mittenaere in 2016. The country has only won the Miss World crown once with Denise Perrier in 1953.
Miss France 2019 Vaimalama Chaves opted not to compete in an international pageant. She would rather accompany the contestants of Miss France 2020 during their trip to Tahiti.
