Miss Grand International president Nawat Itsaragrisil together with the reigning queen from Paraguay, Clara Sosa arrived in Caracas, Venezuela for the press conference of this year’s pageant in the country.
The conference was held at the Tamanaco Hotel on Thursday, July 25. It was hosted by Rafael Oropeza and attended by Miss Grand Venezuela 2019 Valentina Figuera, Venezuelan diplomat Julio César Pineda, and Televen Communications Manager Sergio Vargas.
Nawat said he does not mind being criticized for allowing his Thailand-based competition to take place in Venezuela.
“This is the time to show our potential to the world so that the other beauty pageants can see what we are capable of.”
“I believe that nothing will happen,” he added, referring to the issues of security and political crisis in the South American country.
Former president of Miss Venezuela organization, Osmel Souza, expressed through a video his support for the country’s hosting of the international pageant.
Around 80 contestants from all over the world are expected to arrive in Caracas by the 10th of October.
The pre-pageant activities include visits to historical places, parade, gala dinner, charity auction, national costume presentation, and preliminary competition.
Miss Grand International 2019 finals will be held at the Poliedro de Caracas (Caracas Polyhedron Arena) on October 25 with free admission so the Venezuelan public can attend the show. The pageant will be telecast on Televen, a private Venezuelan national television network.
