Clémence Botino was crowned Miss France 2020 during the 90th edition of the Miss France pageant held on Saturday, December 14 at the Le Dôme de Marseille in Marseille.
The 22-year-old master student in art history from Guadeloupe beat 29 other beauties to win the prestigious national competition and succeed last year’s winner from Tahiti, Vaimalama Chaves.
Miss Provence, Lou Ruat was the first runner-up and Miss Tahiti, Matahari Bousquet was the second runner-up. The representatives from Burgundy, Sophie Diry and Côte d’Azur, Manelle Souahlia, were the third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
Miss France 2020 was hosted by Jean-Pierre Foucault, Sylvie Tellier, and Miss France 2019 Vaimalama Chaves, with performances by Robbie Williams and Chaves. Despite only being the 90th edition of the competition, it marked the centenary of the Miss France pageant since its inception in 1920.
The newly-crowned Miss France is expected to represent her Western European country at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
