25-year-old Sara Franco, representing Medellín, was crowned Miss Mundo Colombia 2019 during the Miss Colombia Internacional 2019 pageant last Saturday, August 10 in Bogotá. She beat 24 other beauties to win the competition and succeed last year’s winner, Laura Osorio Hoyos.
The new Miss World Colombia is a fashion designer and businesswoman. She will now embark on a journey to represent her country at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London, England in December.
Alejandra Rodríguez Osorio (Antioquia), Daniela Torres (Bolívar) and Andrea Buendía (Amazonas) were the runners-up. They will compete in Miss Asia Pacific International 2019 in the Philippines, Miss Model of the World 2019 in China and Miss Globe 2019 in Albania, respectively.
Hillary Cerra (Atlántico), Linda Nieto (Cundinamarca) and Melany Florez (Bogotá) completed the Top 7 finalists.
Colombia is yet to win the Miss World crown. The country only came too close to winning with four 1st runner-up placements in 1981 (Nini Johanna Soto González), 1983 (Rocío Isabel Luna Flórez), 1996 (Carolina Arango Corrales) and 2002 (Natalia Peralta Castro).
