Nadja Breytenbach beat 11 other contestants to win Miss Namibia 2019 on Saturday night, July 6 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino. She received the crown from last year’s first runner-up, Clarise Van Der Vyver.
The 24-year-old beauty succeeds Miss Namibia 2018 Selma Kamanya. She will now prepare to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant later this year.
Julita-Kitwe Mbangula and Johanna Swartbooi were the runners-up while Yana Haenisch and Varaakuani Hambira completed the Top 5 finalists.
Former Miss Namibia and Miss Universe 1992 Michelle McLean Bailey, together with Chops Tshoopara, hosted the competition. She is up to now the only Miss Universe winner from Namibia.
Miss Namibia was first held in 1980 where Bernice Tembo became its first winner. Before Conny Maritz became the national director from 1999 up to present, the pageant had two previous directors – Nic Kruger (1980-1996) and Danie Botes (1997-1998).
