24-year-old Nadja Breytenbach was crowned Miss Namibia 2019 on Saturday night, July 6 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino. She beat 11 other contestants to win the coveted national beauty title.
Nadja succeeded Miss Namibia 2018, Selma Kamanya and will now prepare to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant later this year. She received the crown from last year’s 1st runner-up, Clarise Van der Vyver.
The runners-up were Julita-Kitwe Mbangula and Johanaa Swartbooi. Yana Haenisch and Varaakuani Hambira completed the Top 5 finalists.
Former Miss Namibia and Miss Universe 1992 Michelle McLean Bailey, together with Chops Tshoopara, hosted the competition. She is up to now the only Miss Universe winner from Namibia.
Miss Namibia started in 1980 and Bernice Tembo became its first winner. The pageant has had three national directors since then – Nic Kruger (1980-1996), Danie Botes (1997-1998) and Conny Maritz (1999-present).
