Janick Maceta was crowned Miss Peru 2020 in a competition that was streamed on Sunday, November 29. She succeeds last year’s winner and Miss Universe Top 10 placer Kelin Rivera.
The 26-year-old New York-based beauty who hails from Lima is a model, audio engineer, music producer, and advocate for abused children. She previously joined Miss Tourism Word 2018 and Miss Supranational 2019 where she placed as first and third runner-up, respectively.
Solange Hermoza of La Libertad and Maricielo Gamarra of San Martín completed the Top 3 while Arlette Rujel of Callao and Agatha Mego of Piura were the rest of the Top 5.
Twenty-four contestants battled it out to win the coveted title during the 69th edition of the national pageant.
The new Miss Peru won the crown in her third attempt. She will now prepare to represent her South American country at the 69th Miss Universe pageant to be held possibly in the USA during the first quarter of 2021.
Peru first won Miss Universe in 1957 courtesy of Gladys Zender. She is up to now the only Peruvian winner of the prestigious title.
