Roxanne Allison Baeyens of Baguio City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2020 in a virtual competition held on Sunday, June 5. The 23-year-old Eurasian beauty also bagged the Eco Video and Darling of the Press awards.
Patrixia Santos of Daraga City, Shane Tormes of Atimonan, Quezon, Gianna Llanes of Mandaluyong City, and Illysa Mendoza of Fil-Melbourne, Australia completed the Top 5. They were named Miss Philippines Air, Water, Fire, and Eco-Tourism, respectively.
The new Miss Philippines Earth edged out 32 other contestants from across the Philippines to win the national title. She succeeds last year’s winner, Janelle Lazo Tee from Pasig City, and will represent her country in the next edition of the Miss Earth pageant.
Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the national pageant was held virtually for the first time in 20 years. This year’s theme for the competition is Eco-Angels.
Former Miss Earth winners, Alexandra Braun of Venezuela and Nicole Faria of India were among the panel of judges.
