Kimberly Jiménez was announced as Miss República Dominicana Universo 2020 on Monday, September 28 via Color Vision (Channel 9) and the pageant’s social media platforms.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the national organization headed by Magali Febles decided to appoint the 23-year-old model and actress to succeed last year’s titleholder, Clauvid Dály.
Kimberly was born to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother. She was a heavy favorite during last year’s competition but only settled for second place.
The new Miss República Dominicana Universo will represent the Dominican Republic at the 69th Miss Universe pageant, whose date and venue are yet to be announced.
The Dominican Republic has won its first Miss Universe in 2003 with Amelia Vega and came so close to winning its second crown in 2009 when Ada de la Cruz placed first runner-up.
