Leona Novoberdaliu edged out 11 other finalists to win Miss Slovensko 2020 (Miss Slovakia) on Friday, August 14. She succeeds last year’s winner, Frederika Kurtulíková.
The 23-year-old graduate of political economy at King’s College London currently works for an investment company. She has been involved in gymnastics for 10 years, while into tennis and swimming. In the past, she helped as a volunteer at the Red Cross and the Children’s Hope Club.
The runners-up were Viktória Podmanická and Kristína Víglaská. They were voted by the public to be awarded EVA Miss Sympatia 2020 and Miss GOSH 2020, respectively.
Miss Slovensko 2020 final competition was aired live via TV JOJ from the Incheba Expo in Bratislava amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers pushed through the national pageant with strict measures in place and the historic first for the event to be held without a live audience.
The newly-crowned Miss Slovensko will represent Slovakia at Miss World 2021 pageant to be held in the last quarter of next year, while the runners-up are expected to be sent to Miss International and Miss Supranational.
