23-year-old Anni Harjunpää from Sastamala was crowned Miss Suomi 2019 (Miss Finland 2019) on Saturday, September 28 in a glittering competition held in Billnäs, Raseborg. She succeeds last year’s winner, Alina Voronkova.
Anni bested 9 other finalists to win the coveted national beauty title. She will now prepare to represent Finland at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.
The first runner-up, Jutta Kyllönen, was proclaimed as Miss International Finland 2019. She will join the Miss International 2019 pageant in Tokyo, Japan in November.
There was no confirmation from the national pageant organization if the second runner-up, Riikka Uusitalo, will be sent to any international competitions this year.
Miss Suomi was held for the first time in 1931. In 1952, Finland’s Armi Kuusela became the first-ever woman to be crowned Miss Universe in history.
Finland has won two Miss Universe titles with Armi Kuusela in 1952 and Anne Pohtamo in 1975, one Miss World with Marita Lindahl in 1957, and one Miss International with Anneli Björkling in 1973.
