A 24-year-old business management student, Oliver Nakakande, bested 21 other beauties to be crowned Miss Uganda 2019 at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Friday night, July 26.
Elizabeth Bagaya and Miriam Nyamate were first and second runners-up, respectively, while Petronella Acen and Divine Bronnie Kusiima completed the Top 5 finalists.
The newly crowned Miss Uganda, who hails from Bombo, in the district of Luwero, took home a brand new Toyota Wish. She will now prepare to represent her country at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London, England next December.
Miss World 2018 from Mexico, Vanessa Ponce together with the Miss World organization Chairman and CEO, Julia Morley, graced the national pageant.
Uganda is yet to win the Miss World crown. The country’s highest placement in the pageant was second runner-up with last year’s Miss Uganda, Quiin Abenakyo.
