Elizaveta “Liza” Yastremskaya was officially announced as Miss Ukraine Universe 2020 via online platforms on Tuesday, December 8.
The 27-year-old model, fashion designer, and entrepreneur from Kyiv was the first runner-up during last year’s national pageant. She received her crown and sash from the outgoing titleholder, Anastasia Subbota.
A statement released by the pageant organizers said, “Having consulted with our partners from Miss Universe (USA), we have made the only right decision this year to opt-out of a competition in a large-scale format common to Miss Ukraine Universe.”
The new Miss Ukraine Universe will represent the Eastern European country at the 69th Miss Universe pageant to be held in the first quarter of 2021 possibly in the USA.
“Becoming [Miss Ukraine Universe] was my biggest dream since childhood. I worked hard to achieve this goal and I had a few attempts,” she said on social media.
