Miss Universe Colombia 2020 has revealed the first set of candidates who were selected from a recent casting held the Grand Hyatt hotel in the country’s capital city, Bogotá.
The first face-to-face casting was part of the second phase of the national pageant where the aspirants paraded in their swimsuits and formal wear and answered questions before the judges.
Pageant coach from Venezuela Luis Arguinzones, renowned Colombian fashion designer Alfredo Barraza, makeup artist, stylist, and pageant coach Fabián Chacón, and Miss Universe Colombia national director Natalie Ackermann were part of the selection panel.
Eventually, the first seven lucky beauties were chosen to represent the departments of Arauca, Bogotá, Boyacá, Casanare, Cundinamarca, Guaviare, and Meta.
Miss Arauca, Génesis Quintero (28), Miss Bogotá, María del Mar Meza (28), Miss Boyacá, Michelle Montañez (24), Miss Casanare, Gina Paola Casarán (25), Miss Cundinamarca, Daniela Mejía (20), Miss Guaviare, Xiomara Alfonso (26), and Miss Meta, Juliana Franco (27), will compete in the inauguaral edition of the new Miss Universe Colombia competition in Barranquilla this November.
More than 170 women have initially registered to participate in the pageant. The rest of the official candidates will be chosen from the next castings in Bucaramanga (September 20), Neiva (October 2, 3, 4), Cali (October 6), Medellín (October 8), and Barranquilla (October 10).
