The Miss Universe Jamaica 2020 elimination was held on Saturday, October 24 at the R Hotel in New Kingston.
From over 90 applicants, the pageant organizers selected 12 beauties in addition to the five regional queens namely Miss Universe Jamaica West, Ashanti Findley; Miss Universe Jamaica East, Alexia Royal Eatmon; Miss Universe Jamaica Central, Shanique Thompson; Miss Universe Jamaica North East, Samantha Williams; and Miss Universe Jamaica North West, Lineisha Davis.
Completing the Top 17 semi-finalists were Kimberly Dawkins, Monique Thomas, Dailia Harvey, Chavelle Kavanaugh, Abigail Pinnock, Nicole Henry, Briana Russell, Kaydean Sterling, Brianna Bryce, Ramonia Wright, Miqueal-Symone Williams, and Kimberley Hudson.
Another elimination will be held on November 1 and only the Top 10 will move forward. A virtual sashing of the finalists will be held on November 5 while the final competition will be aired on Saturday, November 28.
At the end of the event, last year’s winner Iana Tickle Garcia will relinquish her reign to the next Jamaican representative at the Miss Universe pageant.
The national competition, headed by Mark McDermott and Karl Williams, promises a compelling grand coronation. This is the first time for Miss Universe Jamaica to be held virtually.
Jamaica debuted at Miss Universe in 1961 and has yet to win its first crown. The country’s highest placement was first runner-up in 2010 with Yendi Phillipps followed by Davina Bennett who placed second runner-up in 2017.
