Swe Zin Htet, representing Hpa-An, was crowned Miss Universe Myanmar 2019 in a glittering pageant held on Friday, March 31 at the Novotel Max Hotel, in Yangon. The 20-year-old beauty who stands 1.75 m in height, bested 25 other contestants from all over the country to win the coveted title.
The runners-up who are expected to compete in various international pageants this year were Hmwe Thet (Miss Grand Myanmar 2019), Htet Thiri Zaw (Miss Intercontinental Myanmar 2019), Htun Palal Yadanar (Face of Beauty Myanmar 2019), Lin Htet Htet Kyaw (World Beauty Queen Myanmar 2019) and Su Su Sandi (5th runner-up).
Last 2016, Swe Zin Htet began her pageantry career after winning Miss Supranational Myanmar 2016 and placed in the Top 10 at Miss Supranational 2016. Now, she will prepare to compete in the Miss Universe 2019 pageant later this year.
It was the 7th edition of Miss Universe Myanmar (formerly known as Miss Burma). The country first sent a representative at Miss Universe in 1959 until the national pageant was banned in 1962 due to unknown reasons.
In 2013, the competition was held again for the first time since 1961 and the winner, Moe Set Wine, went on to compete in Miss Universe 2013 that was held in Moscow, Russia.
