Thuzar Wint Lwin edged out 17 other finalists to be crowned Miss Universe Myanmar 2020 on Wednesday, December 30.
The 21-year-old student, model, and beauty blogger from Hakha also bagged Miss Photogenic and Best in Evening Gown. She succeeds last year’s winner, Swe Zin Htet, and will represent her country at the 69th Miss Universe pageant.
Han Lay was named first runner-up while May Thazin clinched the second runner-up position. They will be sent to Miss Grand International and Miss Intercontinental pageants, respectively.
The third runner-up (Rachael) will go to Face of Beauty, the fourth runner-up (Mya San Thidar) to World Beauty Queen, and the fifth runner-up (Naw Christine) to Miss Globe.
Aye Chan Moe hosted the 8th edition of the national pageant that aired on Channel ME from the Novotel Max Hotel in Yangon.
Myanmar debuted at the Miss Universe pageant in 1959 with Than Than Aye (Miss Burma). In 2013, the country returned to the international pageant after a 52-year hiatus.
