20-year-old Natalie Ortega edged out 17 other contestants to win Miss Universe Spain 2019 on Wednesday, September 18 at Teatro Kapital in Madrid. The runners-up were Athenea Pérez and Claudia Coba.
The newly-crowned Spanish-Norweigan model from Barcelona who aspires to become a teacher will represent Spain at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant. She has professionally been working as a model and speaks fluent Spanish, English, and Norwegian.
Last year’s winner, Angela Ponce who became the first-ever transgender Miss Universe contestant, crowned her successor at the end of the event.
Spain has won the Miss Universe crown once with Amparo Muñoz in 1974. The model and controversial beauty queen who was crowned in Manila surrendered her title after six months and became a popular actress.
